The Gunners boss has ruled out a loan move for the teenager, who impressed in games against Lyon and Wolfsburg in the Emirates Cup over the weekend
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says 17-year-old Jeff Reine-Adelaide will not be sent out on loan this season.
Adelaide caught the eye in the Emirates Cup this weekend, coming on as a sub against Lyon before impressing in an hour-long performance against Wolfsburg, setting up Theo Walcott for the only goal of the game.
Wenger has indicated the youngster will continue his development in north London during the 2015-16 campaign and could be a part of the first team set-up.
“He will stay at Arsenal this season,” Wenger told reporters after the game. “He looks very promising but he needs to work with the first team now.”
He added: “Reine-Adelaide looks very advanced physically for his age and I’m sure he has learned a lot from the Emirates Cup.”
Prior to the game against Wolfsburg, Wenger identified Adelaide, who signed from Lens earlier in 2015, as a “special talent”.
“Reine-Adelaide is something special you know,” he said on Saturday. “He is a great talent and when he came on you could see that.
“[He is] 17 years old, let’s not forget that. In fact I don’t remember how I played at 17 but I didn’t play like that!”
