UK’s first Muslims to get married has spoken of his pain claiming he has received acid attack threats.
24-year old Jahed Choudhury, said he has been a victim of online abuse since marrying Sean Rogan last week.
Speaking with BBC, Jake said he had received death threats on social media and in the street.
“The worst [messages] say ‘the next time I see you in the streets, I’m going to throw acid in your face’.
“Even if I walk down the streets, I have people spitting on me and calling me pig – all the nasty stuff. I just keep walking.”
Some of the comments posted on a video of the pair by BBC Midlands, says:
“You Can’t Be A Gay Muslim, If You Are Than Your Not A Muslim.
“Islam Forbids This, I’m not saying they should Split up and Be Straight Which is the right thing to do, what I’m saying is they can’t be Muslim If they are Gay.”
Another added: “It’s like eating meat and calling myself a vegetarian you are not Muslims.”
Jahed, however said he had also received “amazing” support from his online followers, including people who said the couple had inspired them to come out.
“I’ve been brought up Muslim and the Koran mentions you cannot be gay and Muslim. But this is how I have chosen to live my life. I will never get rid of my faith.”
