“If you don’t know about Atleti, you don’t know about football. I think it’s a team that’s achieved a lot of big things recently and that wants to keep growing. It’s a team that’s already been put together and has a way of playing that gets results. I’m here to contribute”, Martínez told the media.
Jackson, who has already talked to Diego Simeone, brushed off comparisons with Falcao, who also played for the ‘Rojiblancos’ for two seasons, producing impressive goalscoring hauls in 2011/12 and 2012/13. “Falcao is Falcao, Jackson is Jackson. They both do their jobs and I’m here to try to do well”, he remarked.
“What I want is to start work right away. My biggest motivation is to be able to play for Atleti and to give my all in service of the club and the fans”, added the striker, who believes that his abilities and attributes are a good fit for Atleti: “That’s why the club decided to sign me.”
