Lewis Hamilton won a thrilling Italian Grand Prix for Mercedes on Sunday to stretch his championship lead to 30 points over Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, who fought back to fourth after a first lap spin.
The Briton and Vettel made contact on the opening lap, with the German spinning down to 18th place.
Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen took second, after starting on pole position and leading for much of the race in a duel with Hamilton, with fellow-Finn Valtteri Bottas taking third for Mercedes.
After the race, Hamilton said: “Ferrari put up a great challenge. A huge thank you to my fans – they inspired me so much”
