BHU professor’s Har Har Mahadev app blocks porn sites, plays bhajans instead

A professor at Varanasi’s Banaras Hindu University has come up with a novel and technologically-advanced way to block students from watching porn.

Dr. Vijaynath Mishra, a professor at BHU’s Institute Of Medical Sciences, has developed an online tool he calls ‘Har Har Mahadev’. The tool, it seems, blocks access to porn websites when a user tries to log on them and instead plays a ‘bhajan’.

The app was developed by Dr. Mishra, who led a small team of research scholars and developers, in a personal capacity. According to news agency ANI, the others on Mishra’s team included BHU research scholars Smriti Singh and Akanksha Srivastav, developer Ankit Shrivastav and journalists Aman and Ankit.

While not a tool officially adopted by the Beneras Hindu Univeristy, the institute’s medical superintendent OP Upadhyay applaueded ‘Har Har Mahadev’, calling it a “very good step”. “It will help curb the corrupted mentality being spread in society. This is the land of Madan Mohan Malviya…” Upadhyay was quoted as saying by ANI.
