The Spain international duo enjoyed excellent debut seasons at Stamford Bridge but their club and national team-mate expects them to up their performances in 2015-16
Chelsea’s Premier League rivals should fear an improvement from Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, warns defender Cesar Azpilicueta.
The Spain pair flourished in their first seasons at Stamford Bridge in 2014-15, Costa scoring 20 top-flight goals while Fabregas provided 18 assists as the Blues cantered to the title.
But their club and international team-mate, Azpilicueta, says that the duo will push on even further in the campaign to come.
“We know their quality and, despite what they did last season, they want to do better,” he told reporters of Costa and Fabregas.
“They are competitive and have a winning mentality. They will not just settle for what they did before and will want to do more.
“The season they did before was amazing but they are looking to go even further than they did before for Chelsea.
“That should worry the other teams. What they do is key for us. The amount of goals and assists these two players give us make the difference.
“The numbers they did in their first season was amazing and can be again.”
